Deployment Resources

When I use the word "deployment" here, I am really talking about any time we are separated from our spouse (TDYs, unaccompanied tour, training, etc.)  While "deployment" is a trigger word to our civilian friends, we know that it is just a tiny piece of the military puzzle. We all spend many more days separated from our spouses beyond the time that they are traditionally deployed.  So here you go, mamas,. Some of my favorite places to go when you need some help during a time of separation. OR, for my civilian friends, if you're looking for a place to serve the military community, here are some great places to check out.

  • Military OneSource - A government-run, one stop shop for Military resources.  This is a great "first stop" for information about different bases, as well as a place to receive support during deployment or separations. I've linked directly to their deployment section here.
  • Operation Homefront - A non-profit organization that seeks to provide relief to those in crisis, recovery for those who need it and recognition  to those who've made the ultimate sacrifice. Check out their website for a list of events near you.
  • USO - While most often known for posh airport lounges and sponsoring musicians to play for the troops overseas, the USO has great resources for families and troops.  I have linked directly to my favorite page of their website that shows how they serve all parts of the military community
  • National Military Family Association - Founded in 1969 by a handful of military wives, the NMFA serves as an advocate for military families and provides great support to the military community.  I've linked directly to the section of their website dedicated to deployment because it provides a practical list of resources and things to think about when your spouse is tasked to deploy.
