Aloha, Amigas! I'm currently galavanting across the mainland in the heat of the summer to see our family! It's a busy season, so I'll make this quick, but I have so much to tell you! First off, that pesky little book I've written is actually going to be printed! If you've signed up for my Monthly Mutterings (which you can do HERE) you know that I've spent the last year gettin' all rejected and stuff. But then, I met Renee. She calls herself a Dream Defender, which is basically the coolest title ever and I wish I was clever enough to have such a hip title for myself. But anyway, I digress. Renee has published nine books (Bless her.) using both traditional methods and self-publishing. Now, in addition to her own writing, she helps newbies like me get published! This looks a lot like holding my hand and patting my head and swaddling me up and rocking me into a calm state of productivity. Sometimes isn't that all we need - a mother-like mentor who has paved the way for us? With this beautifully painful kick in the butt from Renee, we are on schedule to see this little book in print by the end of the year! So to celebrate, I'm giving away some things that I'm loving this summer. All of the giveaways will be happening over on my Facebook page, and the first giveaway starts on Monday, so be on the lookout! First off, BOOKS! For ME: Do you know Sophie Hudson? She is the epitome of southern hospitality mixed with an appropriate amount of sass and a whole heck of a lot of FUNNY. She wrote this adorable little book with a ridiculous title called Giddy Up, Eunice. The book is a call to women of all ages encouraging them to do life together. Sophie is approachable and vulnerable, but will set you on the straight and narrow before you even know where you're headed. I want another woman to get their hands on this gem this summer so I'm giving a copy away! For the Kids: We are currently doing A LOT of traveling, but it was made a whole lot sweeter when my boys got their hands on the newest Lost My Name book. Do you remember in January when I gave one of these away? Well I think this new book might be even better than their first! The book is called The Incredible Intergalactic Journey Home and it is filled with some magical personal touches. Not only is your child the main character of the story, but Lost My Name has partnered up with Bing Maps and they use YOUR actual address and an aerial view of YOUR actual house to take your child on a wild ride through the universe UNTIL...you guessed it...your kid finds his way back home. Britton almost lost his mind when he saw his actual house in the book. I would also love to add that Lost My Name's customer service center is top-notch. My address wasn't registering in their automated system so their technical angels went above and beyond to make sure Britton's book was not only personalized, but accurate. So, if your kiddos need another book on their summer reading list, this one is a keeper! This giveaway is kicking off on Wednesday, so head on over to Facebook then to enter! For Me or You or Mom or Friend or Daughter: I met this girl at the beach. She is an adorable, blond, southern belle with a firecracker of a daughter. I obviously fell hard for both of them instantly. Come to find out she is an incredible jewelry artists and also designs BEA-U-TIFUL shirts. I mean, these shirts are ALL THE RAGE. With just 6 weeks left of summer weather, I want to get TWO of you into one of these beautifully designed shirts. You can follow Blair at Just B Creations on Facebook or take a look at her Etsy shop. This giveaway is kicking off on Friday (7/29) with a winner being chosen in time for church on Sunday morning. This one is going to be doubly sweet since I'm drawing two names to win shirts! Welp...that's it for now, my friends! I've got packing to do as we are off to our next adventure, but make sure you're following me on Facebook to find out how you can get your hands on some goodies!

It's Christmas time, friends, and with that comes obscene amounts of cookie consumption, a constant cacophony of holiday tunes ringing in my ears and the ever-stressful shopping for gifts. I do love to GIVE gifts, but I hate THINKING of gifts to give. You'd think after 30 years, I would have this gift-giving thing on lock, but every year, I find myself thinking, "It's time to buy Christmas presents, AGAIN? I swore it was just yesterday I was buying last minute gifts on Amazon Prime and splurging for the "One-Day Shipping" charge because it was December 23rd!" (I'm not the only one who's done that, right?!) But alas, the time has come, and I'm feeling pretty good about my choices this year. After all, my mom does not need another set of hand lotions, and if I buy my dad another tie he will officially have enough to start a bonfire. So this year, I've done my research to come up with unique, useful, and enjoyable gifts for the people I love. Disclaimer: If you are expecting a gift from me this year (I'm looking at you family members), don't read this, because it will most likely spoil the surprise. But, if you're one of those people who goes peeking under the tree anyway (ahem, Brother), continue on, no one is watching. Here is my top gift for all the different people in my life (Added Bonus: ALL of them are under $40...you're welcome). Kids - LOST MY NAME book. Ok, so I know I just gave one of these away, but they are seriously my favorite gift for any young child! Each book is personalized with your child's name and tells a fantastic story about your little one. Your child plays the starring role in this narrative as they wander through an imaginary world collecting the letters that spell their name. The website is extremely user-friendly and you can have the book ordered in under 10 minutes! Your kid might not be impressed at first (because, in their eyes,, it is JUST ANOTHER BOOK), but after you read through it, they will be ALL EARS! I mean, who doesn't love a book about themselves? My point, exactly. (My giveaway contest for this little gem closes TONIGHT (12/8) at 11:59 p.m. PST, so you still have a few hours to enter! Go to my Facebook Page for details on how to enter!) Husband/Dad/Brother - Bug A Salt - I know I am married to an outdoorsmen, but seriously, there is not a man out there who won't LOVE this gift. Using salt as ammo, this small pump-action sprays salt out to kill flies. The days of using a Fly Swatter are no more thanks to this handy little gun. Now husbands and fathers alike can make fly killing more entertaining and satisfying. Just imagine the family competitions that will ensue after the presents are unwrapped. You will be WANTING the flies to come in your house just to give this little toy a test run. **As a mom of 2 little boys, I will also add that this gun has a safety mechanism, and even if a child gets accidentally "peppered with salt" (see what I did there?), they will not sustain any major injuries. Promise. Mom/Sister/Girlfriend - Birchbox is my go-to gift for the women in my life, no matter the occasion! For as little as $30 you can gift a subscription to a friend. Each month, they will receive fun beauty samples in an adorable little box. Each woman can personalize their style profile to get beauty products that suit their needs. Plus, I LOVE consumable gifts, and this one definitely fits the bill. If you're looking for other fun gifts for the ladies in your life, check out the SHOPPING page on my website. It lists some of my favey-fave mompreneurs who are creating some beautiful things for women. Supporting small businesses is the best,, so go show them some love! Whole Family/Coworkers/Neighbors/Random Friends - One word: BOOMF! Fun meets tasty with a box of personalized marshmallows. Y'all. THIS IS A THING. Any description I give here will be inadequate once you see the pictures of the Boomf boxes. Nothing says Happy Holidays like your face our the faces of your children on nine tasty marshmallows. I literally couldn't STOP thinking of people I wanted to give a little BOOMF to. And, it's a consumable which, like I said before, is my favorite kind of gift! And in case you're wondering, I am receiving exactly ZERO dollars from any of these companies to advertise their products and am just sharing them with you because I LOVE THEM!
What are you gifting to the people you love this year? I would LOVE to hear more suggestions! |
